Day 9. Home. 11.10.24

Image
The sun was shining brightly this morning so we jumped on the bikes and did a few laps around the B.P Dam area. Managed to do about 16kms back and forth with out going to far from the caravan park.  The main road in has no shoulder to ride on and it's a 100km/hr zone so we weren't keen on that. Wine cellar.  Restaurant  Moffatdale Ridge Winery for lunch before we headed home. Lunch with a view. Some interesting bottles we spotted on the way out. Today we travelled 179kms. It will possibly be our last trip in the van this year as we are heading off on a cycling tour of Vietnam in a few weeks.  On this trip we travelled 630kms.

Day 8. B.P Dam 10.10.24

We had a good nights sleep. Temperature was perfect.  Early morning 4km walk. Graham cooked a delicious rum n raisin damper for morning tea and everyone sang Happy Birthday. Mid morning 4km walk after a game of aggravation.  We had lunch in Murgon at a cafe. Our awesome camp spot.  Tonight Graham is cooking a 🎃 pumpkin dish for dinner and we have cream and strawberry sponge cake for dessert. Good thing we have walked over 9 kms today.

Day 7. Bjelke Peterson Dam. 9.10.24

Today we send happy birthday wishes to 2 of our grandchildren, Issac who turns 20 and his sister Haylee who is very excited to finally be turning 10. After a bit of rain, gusty winds and a sudden temperature drop overnight we packed up early and headed home to take care of a couple of things. We were home less than 2 hours before we departed again for Bjelke Peterson Dam. We are joining G&G and G&K for a couple of days.  Stopped at the post office cafe in Woolooga and had a delicious toasted turkish bread sandwich for lunch.  By sheer luck we were all arriving not far apart from each other.  We have an unpowered site in amongst a few trees while the others have powered sites further down the hill. The girls took the dogs for an afternoon walk while the boys chatted. We were watching the storm come in from under G&Gs awning. Lots of thunder, lightning and rain.  Eventually we had to leave our chairs behind and borrow an umbrella ☔ and rain jackets from Gai...

Day 6. Biggenden. 8.10.24

Image
Rode around the streets of Biggenden this morning, including meeting Rachel and the twins at a park and a coffee at the motel. View from the airport.  Bluff View Rd. Mt Woowoonga Rd. One of the garden ornaments at the motel. Went up to the farm for awhile and shovelled a bit of gravel on the driveway. In the afternoon we rode to the park again and met Rachel and the 4 boys for an early BBQ dinner.  Lincoln and I picked some flowers 💐  Rach tried my new bike 😐 Another pretty sunset to finish off a hot day.

Day 5. Biggenden. 7.10.24

Image
After a short ride to M&L's we packed up and headed off for Biggenden RV camp. Once we were set up we drove up to R&Js farm. It was really hot, 33°, so we headed down to the creek at the back of their property. Rach and I took some photos and videos.  The water was very refreshing.  I left my phone with Rach and I find selfies ❤️ After a sausage sizzle it was ridiculously hot so we went back to the van for cold showers and a rest before we go back up the hill for a sunset BBQ.  A lot of background noise  Today we travelled 89kms. Total so far, 182 kms.

Day 4. Bundy. 6.10.24

Luke recommended a ride to Sandy Hook. I wanted to ride to the Hummock but Melissa firmly said NO. It's too dangerous mixing with the traffic and no road shoulder. So Sandy Hook it was.  We had a ride full of undulations,  never ending wind, swooping birds and a coffee at McCafe on return.  We opted to put the aircon on and have quiet time after lunch. It was 29° This afternoon we went to the beach in Bargara with the family.  We didn't stay long as the wind was cold and relentless.  Millie had a go at Mark's old surfboard.  Haylee rode the waves on a boogie board.  Ruby didn't enjoy the beach today. After dinner we had chocolate mud cake as it's Haylees birthday in 3 days. She loved the box of art and craft items we gave her.
